Pak Embassy Internships

An Embassy announcement states: We are
now accepting applications for the Summer of 2006
Application deadline: Summer Semester (May-August) –
March 31, 2006
The internship program of the Embassy is designed to provide
students with a unique opportunity of involvement in governmental
affairs and to provide them with a general understanding
of the Pakistan-US bilateral relations. The interns would
have the opportunity of working directly with the Embassy
diplomats. This first hand experience is highly valuable
for those who are interested in international relations.
Upon successful completion of the internship, participants
will receive a certificate signed by the Ambassador and
the Head of Chancery.
The interns’ attachment with the Embassy would be
on a voluntary basis. They would not receive any remuneration
for their work, usually five days per week. Students are
encouraged to apply for academic credits from their universities
for the internship program with the Embassy.
Location:
Interns are normally attached with the diplomatic wing of
the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC. Room and board
would be the interns’ own responsibility. The Embassy
would try to assist in finding suitable accommodation.
Eligibility:
The program is open to motivated and dynamic undergraduate
and graduate students at US colleges and universities. We
cannot accept applications from outside of the United States.
We are particularly looking for individuals with following
qualifications:-
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Leadership abilities.
• Maturity and ability to work independently.
• Serious interest in pursuing a career in US Government
and politics or relevant fields.
Internship positions are best suited for applicants with
interest in the following fields:
• American politics
• Pakistani/South Asian politics
• Journalism/Media
• International Affairs
• Economics
• International Economic Law
• Human Rights
• International Trade
Application requirements:
• Application Form (download ), duly filled in.
• A write-up on any current international affairs
issue ( of up to 500 words)
• A resume
• Latest academic record
• Two letters of recommendation (academic/employment)
