Faith-Based Groups Visit
King Fahad Mosque

July 15, 2007, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday was celebrated
at the King Fahad Mosque in Culver City, CA. The event was
sponsored by the Culver City in collaboration with faith-based
groups.
The event was well attended. After a tour of the beautiful
Mosque, the guests were introduced to the teachings of Islam
through a brief lecture by Usman Madha, Director of Public
Relations, who then opened the floor for a lengthy question-and-answer
session.
Culver City Mayor Gary Silbiger concluded the event with a
short speech reminding the gathering that the Mosque is an
integral part of the community. He made positive comments
about Muslims in general. Thereafter refreshments were served
and many guests stayed on to observed the Muslim community
members offering Asr Prayers.
A press release issued by the City of Culver City prior to
the visit of the faith groups to the Mosque stated: Martin
Luther King, the man and his vision for peace and social justice,
will be celebrated with two days of joyous and thoughtful
events Sunday, January 14, at the Culver City Senior Citizens
Center, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Monday, January 15, at
the King Fahad Mosque in Culver City from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30
