US Hails Musharraf’s ME Initiative

Washington, DC: The United States has welcomed Pakistan’s initiative to address some tough issues like the Middle East conflict, the State Department said, adding that more details are needed for specific comments on the move.
Spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing President Pervez Musharraf has visited some Muslim countries in the Arab world and other regions to discuss “how they can band together to address the issue of Israeli-Palestinian conflict” and how to “address the divide within the Muslim community”.
“As a general comment, any initiatives by responsible parties such as Pakistan or Indonesia or Egypt or Turkey in trying to tackle some of these tough issues in a responsible way are welcome,” he stated.
