Dr. Syed M. Khaleeq Passes
away
An
email received by Pakistan Link states: “It is announced
with disbelief, shock and deep sadness that Dr. Syed Mohammad
Khaleeq (May Allah bless his soul) passed away due to liver
and kidney failure in Faisalabad, Pakistan, today Thursday,
February 15, 2007.” He was buried in his ancestral cemetery
in Karachi.
Dr. Khaleeq was living with his son Bilal Khaleeq, attorney
at law, in Omaha, Nebraska who took him and Mrs. Khaleeq to
Pakistan a couple of weeks earlier honoring his father’s
wish.
“Dr. Syed M. Khaleeq served for over 20 years as Head
of Children Hospital in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and came to
America in 1991. Soon after he joined PAGH and served as the
Chairman of the Publication Committee and Editor-in-Chief
of “Raabta”, the monthly official PAGH publication.
His better-half Mrs. Munawara Noori Khaleeq is a well educated
and thoroughly read Islamic scholar and an articulate author/writer.
This fine couple dedicated their lives to serve the noble
cause of propagation of Islam as a tag team through print
and electronic media.
“Dr. Khaleeq lived in Houston on and off for over 15
years. He truly loved Houston and the circle of friends he
established over the years. Reciprocally, Houstonians gave
him love, respect and held him in the highest esteem. He was
loved by all and hated by none. His gentle manner, his scholarship
and his superb sense of humor and quick-wit answers to every
question made him quite special and unique.”
