Eid & New Year Celebrations
in Southern California
A highly entertaining
family program was the highlight of a joint Eid al Adha and
New Year celebrations at the Knotts Berry Farm Resort Hotel
in Buena Park on Sunday, December 31.
Prominent members of the community turned up in large numbers
to be part of the celebrations in the glittering spacious
hall of the hotel. Consul General Syed Ibne Abbas also graced
the occasion. Every one was in a festive, buoyant mood and
thoroughly enjoyed the program.
Dr. Yasmin Feroz, a local social activist, along with Sofia
Altaf and Fatima Khan, organized the program which had a little
bit of everything - live entertainment by Arhum and Depa and
thunderous DJ by Arhum band. Door prizes included ladies dress
from Mirage and Keshish boutique, round trip ticket to Las
Vegas from Travel and Tours and 4 Sunday brunch coupons from
Shahnawaz Restaurant.
Delicious appetizers and a sumptuous dinner with a variety
of dishes catered by Dara Khan of Shahnawaz Restaurant added
to the evening’s fun and gaiety. Dr. Yasmin has organized
such programs several times in the last six years and each
one has been a wonderful experience for the guests. This year
was no exception. For many, the evening indisputably turned
out to be a memorable one.
Dr. Yasmin, Sofia and Fatima should be commended for hosting
the successful program which brought community friends together
to enjoy good food, good music, and good company.
