FOP President Expresses
Concern
Los Angeles, California: Friends
of Pakistan has expressed concerned “at what's taking
place in regard to the suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar
Mohammad Chaudhry, which has set off immense controversy and
threatens to spiral into a constitutional crisis.” In
a press release, the FOP President Sarfaraz Khan has stated:
We would like to see this matter settled in a peaceful manner
and within the constitution of Pakistan as soon as possible.
“Secondly, Friends of Pakistan also supports the freedom
of the press and electronic media and we condemn the government
for the police raid on the Geo TV Bureau in Islamabad and
stoppage of one of its programs. The Government must find
those who were involved in this planned attack and bring them
to book.
“Also, we express our heartfelt condolences over the
tragic death of Pakistan cricket team coach Bob Woolmer who
died in hospital on Sunday after being found unconscious on
the floor of his World Cup hotel room. Bob Woolmer had promoted
the cause and game of cricket in Pakistan with dedication.
We are really shocked and we offer our deepest condolences
to his family. It's very unfortunate.”
”Friends of Pakistan is a grassroots community-based
organization and it is a community voice,” Mr Sarfaraz
Khan stated.
