Los Angeles, CA: An impressive
flag-hoisting ceremony at the Beverly Hills residence of
Consul General Syed Ibne Abbas marked the commencement of
the Pakistan Day celebrations in Los Angeles on March 23,
2007.
The function was attended by a large number of prominent
community members.
Consul General Syed Ibne Abbas read out messages of President
Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz which called on
the nation to translate the Quaid-e-Azam’s vision
into a living reality. The Consul General also hoisted the
national flag. Consul Ahsan Wagan acted as the master of
ceremony.
President Musharraf’s message said that the Quaid’s
Pakistan was to be a homeland for its people where they
could live in peace, harmony and without fear of domination
or subjugation. He said that Pakistan faced many challenges,
both external and internal, in the post-independence periods,
but it goes to the credit of the Pakistani nation that it
has always risen to the occasion and successfully overcome
adversity by demonstrating patriotism, steadfastness, resilience
and unswerving faith in God. “Pakistan is rapidly
moving on the path of progress and development. Reforms
in all sectors have been successfully introduced and are
bearing fruit and a new direction has been given to our
nation’s destiny in line with the principles given
to us by our founders.”
In his message, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said, “Our
ideological strength lies in our firm adherence to Islam
and our progress and prosperity depend on the cherished
principles of unity, faith and discipline, the motto given
by the Father of the Nation. Let me add that by acting on
this motto, conscientiously and sincerely, we can hope to
build our future on the lines visualized in the momentous
Pakistan Resolution.”
