WSI Announces 8th Annual
International Conference
Washington DC: The World Sindhi Institute
(WSI) will hold its 8th Annual International Conference on
Friday, November 9, 2007 from 3:30pm-9:00pm at the Charles
Sumner School on 17th and M Streets in Washington, DC. This
year, the conference is being held on the occasion of the
10-year anniversary of the organization, which was founded
in 1997. But following the tragic mass killing of innocent
people in Karachi on October 18, instead of 10th anniversary,
the conference will focus on the current situation in Pakistan

Sindh Assembly, renowned thinker, scholar and leader of Sindh
and head of daily DAWN, will address the conference. Mr. Zahid
Makhdoom, President of WSI, will welcome the participants
and present a brief account of the institute’s work
in the past decade. An open discussion would be encouraged
in the Q/A session.
The speaker session will be followed by a cultural reception
including authentic Pakistani food and music.
Guests and attendees will also have the opportunity to register
for WSI’s grassroots advocacy campaign. More information
regarding the advocacy campaign will be released as developments
take place.
