The
Arizona Democratic Party organized the Hall of Fame dinner
on Friday, November 2, 2007.
Over 600 people, including Governor Janet Napolitano and Attorney
General Terry Goddard, attended the banquet. The Pakistani-American
Democrats in the valley participated in this $200 a plate
fundraising event to show support for their political party
and raise awareness of the group among the general members.
The program brochure made a special mention of the Pakistani-American
group present in the audience. It was the only ethnic group
mentioned.
Dr Farooqui, Itrat Naqvi, Yasmeen Kazmi, Terek Khan, Zain
Rahman, Shamsa Khan, Saba Rahman, Asim Ameer, Dr. Jef Kazi
and Arif Kazmi met Governor Janet Napolitano, Congressman
Harry Mitchell, and Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard.
Goddard is a potential candidate for the post of governor
of Arizona in the next elections.
This meeting of community members with the high-level leadership
of the Democratic Party demonstrated the latter’s gesture
of goodwill and acknowledgement of support of the community
to the party’s cause.
