The Pakistan Association of Greater Seattle organized a colorful function to celebrate Pakistan Day.
Mr. Mumtaz Malik received the guests at the spacious hall of Old Redmond School & Community Center. Followed by Maghrib, Mr. Asif Nasr began the proceedings with the recitation from the Holy Qur’an and then presented a film entitled: ‘Pakistan – A Nation on the Road to Progress and Advancement’.
The captivating film highlighted country’s panoramic views, its natural beauty, glimpses of its social life and customs, and representative aspects of its rich cultural heritage. The tail end of the film displayed Bill Gates’ quote: “Among the Asians, Pakistanis are the smartest people in the world of Information Technology.”
Soon the ‘Neelaam Ghar’, challenging the knowledge of ‘children of all ages’ about Pakistan’s history, literature, politics, and sports etc., with tempting prizes was set in motion.
The next segment included qir’at, patriotic songs, music, speeches by children and exhibition of their paintings. Children in national dress waving Pakistani flag on stage looked really cute.
“By organizing such programs, we want to further an interest in Pakistan and infuse her love in our children as they are going to be Pakistan’s goodwill ambassadors in our nation here”, said Association’s Mr. Munir Rizvi. Since the main focus was children, one could see a pageantry of colorful dresses worn by children and their moms, who had really worked hard to make the program interesting, inspiring and successful. Spicy refreshment was an additional attraction.
