COPAA Congratulates OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens
COPPA congratulates Ms. Sandra Hutchens on her being sworn-in as the first female Sheriff of the Orange County on June 24, 2008, says a COPAA Press Release. It adds:
Ms. Hutchens who served as the Division Chief for the Office of Homeland Security at the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department from 2002-2007, brings with her a wealth of experience in the field of law enforcement and maintaining a good relationship with the community she works with. She maintains an excellent rapport with the members of the multi-ethnic community. Her understanding of cultural and religious diversity makes her an ideal Sheriff for Orange County. Ms. Hutchens is sure to serve admirably in her new position.
Ms. Hutchens while serving as the Division Chief, visited Pakistan in 2002 as a part of a delegation headed by Los Angeles County Sheriff, Lee Baca. The delegation also included several Members of the COPAA Board namely Mr. Hamid Malik, Mr. Bob Din, Mr. Irshadul Haque and Mr. Ahmed Ali.
Ms. Hutchens was the driving force behind the formation of the Muslim Homeland Security Congress (MHSC) in the Los Angeles County. Since its inception, the Muslim Homeland Security Congress has been playing a pivotal role in maintaining good relationship between the law enforcement agencies and the Muslim community in the greater Los Angeles area. The MHSC has become a model on which other counties throughout the United States are forming their own security congress.
COPAA wishes Ms. Hutchens the best in her new position as the Sheriff of the Orange County.
