COPAA Board to Meet with Boucher
The Board Members of Council of Pakistan American Affairs, COPAA, are to meet with the Assistant Secretary of State, Richard Boucher, at the State Department on June 9, 2008. The COPAA President, Razaq M. Chaudhry, met with Richard Boucher at the Pacific Council's 13th Annual Member Weekend forum in Los Angeles in March 2008. Mr. Boucher delivered a keynote speech on "The United States and South Asia" at the conference.
During a brief meeting with Mr. Boucher, Razaq explained the role that COPAA plays in communicating the views and concerns of the Pakistani-American community to American foreign policy experts who formulate US policies towards Pakistan. Razaq invited Mr. Boucher to speak at COPAA's forum on US-Pakistani relations in light of the fact that Pakistan is going through a major political transition, and it is uncertain whether the changes in leadership will have any far-reaching impact on the US-Pakistani relationship.
Mr. Boucher accepted the invitation and also extended an invitation to the COPAA Board to meet with him in Washington.
COPAA and Mr. Boucher plan to discuss the current situation and possible future outcomes in Pakistan and its impact on the US-Pakistan relationship.
