Vigil for Usman Chaudhry on June 21
A community vigil and rally for Usman Chaudhry and others will be held on June 21st at 6:30pm at 1435 North Curson Street, Hollywood, CA, according to a SAN announcement. It adds:
“On Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 at 4a.m. in Hollywood, CA, Mohammad Usman Chaudhry, a highly functioning autistic person, was shot multiple times and killed by the LAPD (Hollywood Division) on the 1400 block of Curson Ave. Usman was still in handcuffs when examined by the coroner. Family members of Usman were not told about his death until 21 days after the killing.
“We demand justice for Usman Chaudhry, Gonzalo Martinez ( Downey), Micheal Cho (La Habra), Roketi Su’e (Long Beach), Michael Byoune (Inglewood ) and all other victims of police brutality!
“This event is coordinated by the following organizations to support the family and the community to end police and state violence: South Asian Network, National Alliance on Mental Health, ACLU of Southern California, October 22nd Coalition, Los Angeles Community Action Network, Islamic Shura Council, qteam, Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance and Homies Unidos.”
