Prof Samira Hussein Named 2008 Fulbright Scholar
Overland Park, Kansas: Samira Hussein, Associate Professor of Business Administration at Johnson County Community College (JCCC), has been named the 2008 Fulbright Scholar.
Prof. Samira Hussein is looking forward to participate and co-direct the Fulbright Program in Morocco. She will be taking several area educators with her on this very important mission. They will participate in five-week summer seminars in various universities in Morocco. They will travel to Morocco in June-July 2008 to study the influence of Islam in shaping the artistic, cultural, social, and religious fabric of the society. They will travel to Rabat, Marrakesh, Essaouria, Agadir, Fez, and also visit the Mohammad V University (Rabat), the Ibn Zohr University (Agadir), and Al Akhwayn University at Ifrane to interact with faculty and to present seminars.
A native of Pakistan, Hussein earned two master’s degrees from University of Central Missouri – a master of science in clinical psychology in 1983 and a master of business administration in marketing in 1986. She has taught at JCCC since 1998.
In an impressive list of achievements, Hussein has been the recipient of the Midwest Region’s International Teaching Excellence Award from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, Teaching Excellence Award from National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development, and three JCCC awards recognizing teaching and leadership – two Burlington Northern Teaching Excellence Awards and the Distinguished Service Award.
In Oct 2007 she received the Distinguished International Alumni Award from the University of Central Missouri.
