Conference on“Physics and the World of Today”
The first batch of students graduated from the Physics Department, University of Karachi, in 1955. Thus, the Department has over 50 years of graduations to its credit.
As a befitting celebration of the Department’s half-century milestone, the Karachi University Physics Department, the KU Physics Alumni and the Centre for Physics Education, have together planned a two-day Conference on “Physics and the World of Today” and a one-day Seminar on “Careers in Physics” and a workshop “Stereotactic Radiosurgery & Radiotherapy - from Prescription to Dose Delivery” from 18 through 20 December, 2008.
The objectives of this activity are:
• to provide a platform for the country’s physicists to gather and share their work and views with national and international participants.
• to create awareness among physics students and recent graduates about different fields and openings available to them.
Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, Nishan–i–Imtiaz, President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and Adviser on Science and Technology to Planning Commission, Islamabad, has kindly agreed to be President of the conference.
