Seminar on Pakistani Media in Washington on Sept 16
By Khalid Hasan
Washington, DC: The Woodrow Wilson Centre will host a seminar on Pakistani media and the current information flow on September 16.
The two-hour event will feature Ejaz Haider of Daily Times, Mazhar Abbas of ARY One World, Massoud Ansari of Herald, Asma Shirazi of ARY One World, Owais Aslam Ali of Pakistan Press Foundation, Haroon Rashid of BBC Urdu Service, and Zaffar Abbas of Dawn.
What is mystifying is that Woodrow Wilson will be flying as many as seven journalists all the way from Pakistan for an event that will last just two hours, giving the invitees little time to have their say and leaving no more than 15 or 20 minutes for a question-answer session. The theme set for the brief event is, ‘Pakistan’s media: Revolutionizing the information flow’.
What is not clear is whether it is the information flow that has revolutionised the media, or the media that has revolutionized the information flow. (Courtesy Daily Times)
