With LA Sheriff Lee Baca and OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens under one roof, Hamid and Javeeda Malik's house seemed like the safest place in California!
Sandra Hutchens is up for elections in 2010 and what a better way to show support of the Pakistani-American community than to hold a fundraiser at the start of the campaign for her. Hamid Malik, a community leader, businessman, and philanthropist of Orange County, gathered a distinguished group of supporters and Pakistani-American leaders for Sheriff Hutchens’ fundraiser.
In his introductory remarks, Hamid Malik first thanked LA County Sheriff, Leroy D. Baca, for taking the time out to be there. Next, he informed the guests about Sheriff Hutchens’ three decades of work in the Los Angeles Sheriff Department, which makes her the best candidate for the position. Her rich experience also provides her with the intricate knowledge of law-enforcing agencies.
The OC Sheriff is an experienced and ethically sound leader who leads by example. She has come to command the respect of her department and the trust of the public. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of having the public's trust that is the key to being a successful elected official. She also informed the guests of her work with the Homeland Security Department, which is a specialty critical to the position of a Sheriff.
The Consul General of Pakistan, Syed Ibn-e-Abbas, commended Hamid Malik's efforts to establish rapport with the mainstream community and support leaders like Sheriff Hutchens who uphold the trust of the public.
The guests were treated to the most delectable Pakistani food and appetizers.
