Aamir Pervez, son of Shahid and Seema Pervez and a junior at Hamilton High School, the winner of 5 class 5AI state football championships, will be among 52 other kids of the school who will participate in the presidential inaugural gala. Their participation in the gala is under a Smithsonian sponsored program to honor students with scholastic achievements enrolled in the American Studies program. When Aamir was asked about the trip he said, “It will be a great opportunity to witness such a significant event and partake in history.”
Ahmed Bhuvad is going to the presidential inauguration as part of the Mountain Ridge High School band. Ahmed plays trumpet in the marching band of the school. The Mountain Ridge High School, the only school to represent Arizona, will join 48 other representatives from across the country and the Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following President-elect Obama's swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.
Ahmed’s thoughts: “We are excited and proud to be selected by the Presidential Inaugural committee to represent Arizona . This will be a truly historical moment “.
