Moin Moon Khan Reelected as York Township Trustee
In his bid for re-election, Moin Moon Khan collected more than 10,000 votes in York Township ( Illinois) election held on April 7. Running on the Republican ticket, Khan was able to attract a large number of Democrats as well as independent voters.
Khan is the highest ranking Muslim elected official of Illinois.
“I take pride in reaching out to all segments of the society,” said Khan, a well-known community activist, writer, and motivational speaker. “For me, holding a public office is a sacred duty in which one has to possess the skill of fairness.”
"My supporters included people of all races and faiths including Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Zorostrians," said the Lombard resident, who has received numerous awards for his outreach efforts and got widely profiled in the news media.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the voters of York Township who voted for me. I would also extend my sincere appreciation to those who did not vote for me but came out to support candidates of their choices. I would try my best to represent all of you, even those who could not vote, hoping, in the next election, they would utilize their most important democratic right – voting, “Khan stated.
York Township includes parts of Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, and Westmont.
