Pakistani Writes Australia’s Third Most Popular Song

Legendary world music artist and peace campaigner Mahmood Khan’s single ‘Like The River’ has this week debuted at number three on the ARIA charts behind the cast of ‘Glee’ and Australian Idol Guy Sebastian’s ‘Like It Like That’ making it Australia’s third most popular song.

Mahmood has been promoting his message of peace through his music for the last ten years and his latest single ‘Like The River’ was written to help promote and foster communal harmony in Australia.

Mahmood has been influenced by singer songwriters Barry Gibb, Stevie Wonder and Van Morrison and collaborated with acclaimed world music artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, on his last album ‘Only One’ which went on to sell 6 million copies worldwide.

Mahmood said, “It is great to see ‘Like The River’ debut in the number three position on the ARIA Charts and I am excited that my message of peace and hope is being spread throughout the country.
“The single was launched officially last month and it is great that we are getting the message across about racial harmony.”

‘Like The River’ has been released through Songs Are People and distributed through MGM and is available on all good music stores, digital stores and i-tunes.
