Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Research
Khadij Assani, a senior at Santa Monica High School, will present a South-Asian themed benefit concert on November 7th, 2009 as a member of Team Fox to raise funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). The show will feature a variety of talents ranging from live music to classical dances to contemporary guitar solos.
Khadij aims to raise $10,000 or more to enable the Foundation to continue aggressively funding research to find better treatment and cure for Parkinson’s disease. Her organization at Santa Monica High School is a member of Team Fox, the Foundation’s project for supporting grassroots community fundraisers to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research.
"My grandmother became my inspiration to found an organization that would help improve her quality of life. Since I am deeply involved in music, I decided to use my voice to help find a cure. I established Find the Ultimate Cure as a non-profit organization at Santa Monica High School and titled the concert, Singing for a Cure, to exemplify both my passion and my hope. This concert is my hope for a cure and my effort to better the quality of life of people with neurological disorders.
