ICSGV Embarks on Ambitious Construction Project

The Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley has embarked on a forty thousand plus square feet construction project to build a state-of-the-art community center. The three-story center is being built to serve the needs of the future generation. Besides separate prayer halls for both men and women, the center will have a full-time, state-of-the-art school, gymnasium, computer lab, first of it kind, an Islamic Research Library, full-time medical clinic, banquet hall, commercial kitchen among other facilities.
The Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley (ICSGV), located in the city of Rowland Heights, held an open house to showcase the new building and organize a ‘Seerat-un-Nabi’ program. The open house was attended by almost all Southern California religious leadership along with civic, political and law enforcement officials. Well over 500 people attended the event.
The ICSGV is one of the oldest and largest centers in Southern California. Currently ICSGV runs a week-end Islamic school which is attended by over 300 students. The youth group program is designed to help students in high school. For college students, the young adult group conducts many events and seminars. “Our New Muslim Support Group provides service to those who are interested in Islam and/or those who have just embrace Islam. Tuesday and Thursday our sister group meets regularly to learn about Islam and improve their recitation of Qur’an. Wednesday evening, our Director enlightens the community with stories of Prophets and on Thursday evening he conducts Tafseer of Sura-e-Kahf. Every Friday night families get together at the Center and enjoy various activities and dinner. On Sunday we offer free medical clinic, library service, a formal Tajweed class, while our director talks about contemporary issues which face our community.
