Valentine’s Day celebrations at the residence of Mrs Zohra and Dr Shoaib Patel in Rancho Cucamonga on February 13
Mrs. Zohra Patel and Dr. Shoaib Patel invited prominent members of the Pakistani-American community from all over Los Angeles to celebrate the Valentine’s Day on Saturday, February 13.
When all the guests had arrived and settled down, Dr. Shoaib took the mike and introduced a very important guest, Dr. Donald.J. Kurth, Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga.
He paid rich tributes to the Mayor and singled him out as the devoted individual responsible for the all-round development in Cucamonga. “He is also a doctor and has a clinic here. He is going to participate in election for the state assembly. We will have a fund-raising dinner for his campaign in the near future,” Dr Shoaib informed the gathering.
In his brief speech on the occasion, Mayor Kurth expressed his happiness to be in the midst of the supportive Pakistani-American gathering. “I am delighted to meet prominent members of the Pakistan community. America is a nation of immigrants and the Pakistani community has participated in the development of the country just as the other communities have done. I am also an emigrant. My father came from Ireland,” he informed.
After the dinner, the Mayor mingled with members of the community and had a fruitful discussion with two fellow-doctors, Dr. Feroz Alam and Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ajaz, Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles. He also met with Mr. Aziz, a senior member of the community and a retired engineer.
The dinner was delicious and everybody enjoyed it. After the dinner, Tahir, a young, budding singer entertained the guests with popular songs.
After Tahir’s performance, Dr. Shoaib took the mike and invited the guests to come forward and sing. Dr. Feroz Alam promptly obliged and recited a nice poem in Urdu. Dr. Shoaib took the mike from Dr. Alam and declared that it was time to dance. With loud music playing in the background, Dr. Shoaib and his wife took the floor. The other couples joined them. The memorable Valentine’s Day celebration ended at 1 AM.
