Ar-Rahman Islamic Center Opens in Fontana

Glimpses of the opening of the Ar-Rahman Islamic Center in Fontana
The Muslim Community in Fontana, California, celebrated the grand opening of Ar-Rahman Islamic Center, a new 8,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art architectural mosque on June 27, 2010.
The event was attended by more than a 1,000 people including Muslim scholars, county and city officials, LAPD, FPD Chief, and other dignitaries. The Muslim scholars present on the auspicious occasion included Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi who emphasized the importance of building a community. City Council Woman Acquanetta Warren and San Bernardino Supervisor Josie Gonzales and other officials congratulated the Muslim community on building the beautiful mosque. Hafiz Faiz A. Shah (founder and president of the Center) appreciated the volunteers of the grand opening ceremony for their hard work. Hafiz Faiz A. Shah also lauded the donors for their support. Mr. Shah was presented three certificates dating the Grand Opening. The program included a tour of the Mosque and concluded with a dua by Sheikh Qazi Fazlullah.
Ar-Rahman Islamic Center was established in May 2003 in an office suite. In October 2003 the current location was purchased. In December 2007 the city approved the new Mosque project and in May 2008 the ground-breaking ceremony was held.
Ar-Rahman Islamic Center is an active member in the city and participates in city events. The president of the Mosque was invited by the city of Fontana to attend the topping off ceremony of the Lewis Library and Technology Center. The Islamic Center is involved in faith-based programs and has supported and sponsored many other programs in the city.
The Muslim community in Fontana is rapidly growing and comprises more than one hundred and fifty vibrant families including physicians, attorneys, Chiropractors, CPAs, Engineers, Veterinarians, Small Businesses, Auto dealerships, Citrus Valley Cricket Academy, realtors, teachers, journalists and more. With the completion of this Islamic Center another landmark has been added to the City of Fontana.
