Eid Milad-un-Nabi or the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was celebrated in Northern America with great enthusiasm and reverence. The celebrations have acquired deeper significance for the Muslims in America because they provide a good opportunity to educate the younger generation about Islam. It will not be an exaggeration to say that celebrating the Prophet’s birthday means celebrating the birth of Islam.

A major event to celebrate this holy occasion was held on March 7 at the State Capitol in Sacramento by Jamaat-e-Ahle Sunnat California . The program included a conference on the life and work of the Holy Prophet. It was the 10 th Seerat Conference, thanks to the sustained efforts of Qari Bashir Ahmed Siyalvi, President of  Jamaat-e-Ahle Sunnat California.

Imam Syed Hussain Shah Tirmizi especially came from England to address the conference. Imam Tirmizi  stressed the need to show our love and respect for our beloved Prophet by  practicing what he taught us.

Pir Ali Raza Bukhari - Secretary General "National Peace Committee For Interfaith Harmony," Ministry of Interior, Govt. of Pakistan - who was on a visit to the area addressed the audience. He focused his observations on the subject of tolerance and forgiveness.

Khalid Saeed , National President American Muslim Voice, congratulated and thanked the organizers and especially Qari Bashir Silavi for organizing the event at the State Capitol Building continuously for the last ten years.

He called upon the American Muslims to come out of their mosques and communities and become part of the mainstream and interact with fellow Americans. He said that we should make this celebration an instrument of education to our fellow Americans.  

Khalid Saeed pointed out that American Muslim are here to stay.  “Our kids are born here and they go to schools here and are making their lives here. We are part of this landscape and we must work on grassroots level with other groups and organizations and create better understanding with them for communal peace and harmony.”

Sahibzada Riaz-ul-Hassan Haq Baho from Houston, Texas, was another speaker. He talked about spirituality.

Naat khawani was another feature of the conference. Among those who presented naats included Sufi Mohammad Asghar, Mohammad Sabir Chishty, Shahid Hussain,  and Hafiz Amir Hussain Chishty.

Qari Hafiz Nasirudding Qadri Attari recited verses from the Holy Qur’an.

Akhtar Shah, President Pakistan Association of  San Francisco,  read a congratulatory message from Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles.

Abdul Hamid Bath,  AMV Yuba City Chapter President, read a message from Governor of the State of California Arnold Schwarzenegger who could not attend the conference due to other engagements.

The organizer of the program Qari Bashir Ahmad Sialvi recognized and thanked all the speakers, participants and volunteers.

At the end Jamat-Ahley Sunnat served boxed lunch of biryani, chicken curry, nan and Lahori cholay. Mr.Abrar Ali of Dream Sounds band managed the sound system.

The 10 th Seerat conference was preceded by an Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession. The participants gathered outside the Capital Mall from where the procession marched towards the Capitol Building lawn. The participants were carrying banners and chanting praise for the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

 

Woodland Islamic Center

About 1,000 people gathered at the Woodland mosque to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Allama Syed Hussain Shah Tirmizi was the main speaker. He specially flew from England to speak at the event. World renowned Naat Khawan Hazrat Sultani came from Medina , Saudi Arabia , to grace the occasion.

Others who addressed the audience included Mufti Mehmood Vernalvi, Imam of Woodland Mosque, Qari Bashir Sialvi of Woodland and Sahibzada Riazul Hassn Baho from Houston.  

The speakers stressed that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) had come with the message of universal brotherhood, peace and equality which are infinite in nature and should be implemented by all humanity. It will be wrong to confine him to Muslims alone as he stood and fought for a better, equal and just society.

They said the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is an example for all of us to follow. We don’t just have to listen about him, the real success will be achieved only if we implement his teachings in our lives.

Allama Qari Amir Chaudhry Gujranwalvi of Woodland Islamic Center was the Master of Ceremony.

The program was telecast for ladies in the ladies section of the mosque via a short circuit on a big screen TV. 

The program concluded with a buffet dinner at the mosque lawn.

 

Eid Milad-un-Nabi in SF Bay Area

Another major Eid Milad-un-Nabi event was held on March 7 at the Mehran Restaurant, Newark CA and attended by a large number of people. Ali Akbar Hijweri Qadri was the master of ceremony.

The program, organized by Mohammad Mobeen’s family, included presentation of hamds, naats and speeches about the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Sana Ullah Khan Sahab.

Mohammad Mobeen, Emmad Ullah Khan, Umair Ullah Khan, and Uzair Ullah Khan presented hamds.

Tala'al Badrun presented Jashan-e-Amad-e-Rasool.

Naat Khuwaani was another interesting feature of the event. The naat khuwans included:

Young naat khuwaans, Ali Asad Khan, Usman Sarfaraz and Owais Sarfaraz, impressed the audience with their presentation of naats.

Mirza Wajahat Ali spoke about the life and work of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Maulana Hafiz Zubair Naqshbandi was the main speaker at the event. He observed that our Prophet’s life is a model which every Muslim should try to emulate.

At the end traditional Salam was recited by the audience.

Another interesting part of the program was a display of the following sacred items:

A piece from the cover of K'aba, a piece from the colors of the tomb of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and chaadars of the mazars of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Abdullah Shah Ghazi Sahib, Hazrat Nizam uddin Aulia and Al Sayyad Kamal Uddin Al Gilani.

 

IECRC Center

Another major event of Eid-e-Milad in the Bay Area was arranged by the Islamic Educational & Cultural Research Center (IECRC) in Fremont.

The program included presentation of Naats and speeches about the life of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The audience was addressed by the IECRC founder Professor Dr. Muhammed Ahmed Qadri via Internet.

A similar Eid-e-Milad event was held by the IECRC Center , Sacramento .

Another Eid-e-Miladun Nabi event was held in Stockton where dozens of Muslims gathered at the Stockton Islamic Center to celebrate the occasion with great enthusiasm and fervor.
