Ex-Captain Yunus Khan at Islamic Relief’s Fundraiser in Los Angeles
An Islamic Relief fundraiser in Los Angeles saw cricket’s ex-captain Yunus Khan and ex- coach Haris Khan freely mixing with the audience and exchanging pleasantries.
Both Yunus Khan and Haris Khan are avid and dedicated supporters of Islamic Relief and its projects in Pakistan, and took time off from their busy schedules to come to LA to support the work of Islamic Relief in Pakistan.
The event took place at two locations in Los Angeles in April.
Presentations were made by Yunis Khan; Haris Khan; Anwar Khan, VP of Fund Development for IR US; Abdulghafoor Mahboob, SW Region Coordinator IR US; and Shaista Khan, Pakistan Development Coordinator IR US.
Capt. Yunus Khan spoke from his heart about the much needed funds for the projects in Pakistan. Born in Mardan, he described the situation of refugees in the camps of Swat.
The event was a success with many supporters attending the private functions. Money was raised for the existing 13 projects that are operational in Pakistan.
Islamic Relief has funded over $ 70 million for Pakistan since the 2005 earthquake. Much work and more funding is still needed for the projects that provide sustenance and empower several million people.
The celebrities came as part of a tour of the US for Islamic Relief. The fundraisers were organized in Chicago, Connecticut and New York.
Alamgir, a famous Pakistan artist, also supported the Islamic Relief fundraisers by singing Naats in the above mentioned cities.
