Ustad Hamid Ali Khan’s Scintillating Performance at Shahnawaz

To the delight of a highly appreciative and select audience, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan gave a scintillating performance at the Shahnawaz Restaurant on April 30th, 20210 singing several popular geet, ghazals and ragas to rare perfection. The musical evening was sponsored by Mrs. Rehana Qamar, Ashraf Ali, Jamil Bhatti, Dara Khan, Arif Mansuri and Zafar Abbas.
The program started sharply at nine after dinner and continued till 2 in the morning. The audience was very happy and excited as Ustad Hamid Ali Khan sang quite a few songs and cheerfully sang popular ghazals and geet requested by the audience.
He belongs to the legendary musical gharana of Patiala and is considered to be the last great singer of the family. He is one of the finest exponents of ghazal and classical
singing. Together with his late brother Amanat Ali Khan, Hamid Ali Khan played a pivotal role in promoting classical and semi classical music in Pakistan. Both the brothers were conferred the Pride of Performance award in recognition of their contribution. Hamid Ali Khan also received several life time achievement awards in the field of classical music in India in 2007.
He has released several albums and performed with many international artists.
Mr. Asif Jamal of ARY introduced Hamid Ali Khan and paid him rich tributes for his contribution to classical and semi- classical music.
