Pakistani American Arts Council Hosts Reception for Consul General Riffat Masood
Glimpses of the reception hosted by the Pakistani American Arts Council in honour of Consul General Riffat Masood
The Pakistani American Arts Council (PAAC) hosted a reception in honor of the newly appointed Pakistan Consul General, Madam Riffat Masood, at the glittering Marhaba Chinese Place Hall on September 19. The reception turned out to be a rare event with a large number of prominent community members in attendance to greet the Consul General. Well-known ghazal singer Munni Begum delighted the invitees with her scintillating performance .
The program was aptly emceed by Syed Ashraf Ali , President (PAAC), and ably organized by lady directors of (PAAC) Iffat Ali and Abida Ahmed with the help of the host committee members comprising Aiman Ahmad, Hina Ali, Gul Shah, Munira Rajput, and Roohi Siddiqi.
Addressing the audience, Consul General Riffat Masood said the Pakistan Government needs the help of organizations like the Pakistani American Arts Council to give an impetus to the country’s socio-economic development. She also acknowledged that the Los Angeles Pakistani community was one of the most generous in the world and visibly keen to give back to the homeland.
Prominent community members, including Farhana Mohammad, (PAF) , Rafat Khan (UKAA) , Hamid Malik (COPAA) Mariam Rashid (DIL), Yasmin Qasim ((HDF) Jamal Khawaja (COPACC), Atiq Siddiqui (UPAA), Adil Mujtaba (PVA), were among the attendees along with representatives of several Southern California organizations. The audience was thoroughly enraptured by Munni Begum’s performance.
