Rep. Judy Chu Lauds the Role of the Pakistani Community at Fundraiser

On on October 2nd, 2010, Dr. Meher Tabatabai and Mr.Qaisar Madad hosted a fundraiser for Judy Chu, the first Chinese American woman elected to Congress.
The community came together in a show of unity to support Rep.Chu. Mahrukh Madad, the hosts' daughter, welcomed the guests and informed them of Rep. Chu's background as a public servant. Miss Madad acknowledged the presence of prominent members of the Pakistani American community in the audience and asked Adnan Khan, President of Council of Pakistan American Affairs (COPAA), to address the gathering.
Mr.Khan highlighted COPAA’s role in reaching out to elected officials like Rep.Chu and building bridges of understanding between the community and elected officials.
In her speech, Congresswoman Chu recalled being newly elected and meeting the COPAA board at an International Leadership Foundation Gala where she was the keynote speaker.
"Ever since COPAA's Adnan Khan and Anila Ali, reached out to me, I have joined the Pakistan Caucus and now I am aware of the issues facing Pakistani-Americans and Pakistan," she said.
