The New York Public Library has opened a new exhibit of sacred texts that it hopes will promote religious understanding.
The exhibit, at the library’s main Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, is titled " Three Faiths: Judaism, Christianity, Islam," and features holy texts, prayer books and other artifacts that are intended to show how much the faiths share.
On October 20th, 2010, Paul Leclerc, President and CEO of the Library, invited clergies of all three faiths at the opening ceremony of this exhibit.
Imam Qazi Qayyoom from Muhammadi Center, Jackson Heights , NY attended this auspicious program and thanked the Library officials for this history-making preservation efforts.
The main attraction of the exhibition was the English translation of the Holy Qur’an by Mr.Alexander Ross in 1649 in England.
