A Bay Area Iftar and August 14 Celebrations

Shahab and Rizwana Siddiqui gathered approximately 200 of their close friends at the Mehran Restaurant in Newark, California on Sunday, August 14th with a dual purpose in mind. The breaking of the fast and the Independence Day of Pakistan, were both celebrated together here as many members of the Pakistan Association of San Francisco Bay Area and their South-Asian friends witnessed a green and white cake cutting ceremony conducted by one of the finest field hockey players of all time - Mr. Islahuddin Siddiqui. His presence at this iftar was befitting for the day when Pakistanis and people of Pakistani origins worldwide remember their mother country
