Mustafa Haleem Leads the Memorial Day Parade
By Dr A. Khan
Mustafa Haleem, a fifth grade student of Ridgewood Private School, was among the chosen leaders who led the annual Clark County Memorial Day Parade in Springfield, Ohio.
Mustafa Haleem won this honor by winning an essay contest organized by the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR). Mustafa’s essay titled “Memoirs of Paul Revere” was judged the best in grade 5 category.
Mustafa wrote the essay under the supervision of his teacher Mrs. Patty Barnes.
The parade started at the corner of West High Street and Fountain Avenue and ended at Ferncliff Cemetery. This year’s parade was dedicated to Korean War Veterans, who are celebrating the 60th anniversary of that conflict.
The Clark County Memorial Day Parade was attended by more than 2,000 people.
