Helping Hand Initiative to Help Students in Pakistan
According to a press release, “Helping Hand USA for Relief and Development, West Region Office has a guest, Mr. Abdul Shakoor from a partner organization in Pakistan, Alfalah Scholarship Scheme. He is visiting Southern California from May 13 th to 18 th and will be traveling to Northern California on Wednesday, May 18 th . He will be in Northern California from May 18 th to 25 th, 2011 . He will be then traveling to New York to continue his tour of US.
“The purpose of his visit is to share the challenges students in Pakistan are facing in pursuing their education … His organization is offering scholarships to students who are deserving but have financial difficulty in pursuing college/university education. This Higher Education Scholarship Program is a joint partnership between Helping Hand USA and Alfalah Scholarship Scheme, a project of Al-Khidmat Foundation, Pakistan. Mr. Abdul Shakoor will very much like to meet with those individuals and groups who are interested in providing help to the students of Pakistan. “So far in Southern California he has visited Islamic Society of Corona, AlFurqan Islamic Sunday School, Shura Council Annual Fundraising Banquet, Islamic Society of Orange County, Garden Grove Masjid Rahman, and Helping Hand USA West Region Office and some individuals, to name a few.
“Helping Hand USA and Alfalah have a joint belief that ‘to educate is to alleviate poverty and make students and their families self reliant’ “.
