EID 2011 Celebrated with Traditional Fervor
September 6th, 2011 : Eid u Fitr was celebrated all over the Greater Chicago area with traditional joy and happiness. Large Eid Prayers were held at Toyota Park Bridgeview, Islamic Foundation Villa Park, Holiday Inn Skokie, Libertyville Sports Complex, Ashyana Banquet Downers Grove, Meridian Banquets and Conference Center in Rolling Meadows, Dupage Expo Center in St Charles, Masjid Al Badri in Willow Brook, Baitul Ilm in Streamwood, Darus Sunnah in Evanston, Jama Masjid on Devon and Holiday Inn in Skokie. Addressing the Eid congregations the Khatibs explained the importance of the Eid and the correct way to observe it. They put stress on unity of the Ummah, family values and morality in Islam. They also made special prayers for the disaster stricken people in East Africa and Pakistan. At some locations like Toyota Park there was arrangement for family entertainment with games, food and rides.
Eid Mela and Bazaar
Chicago , Sept. 6th 2011: Mohsin Shah struck again and with a team of volunteers organized Eid Mela last Friday. With a bunch of local artists, young dancers and models he managed to organize yet another Eid Festival. The program started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Ibrahim Khan followed by a Na’at by Ali Khan. There were three fashion shows and multiple dance performances. There were also gifts by the sponsors that were given away after asking easy questions. The Consul General of Pakistan Hon. Zaheer Pervez Khan was the Chief Guest. Awards and certificates of appreciation were also given to some people. Program started a little late and went into the early hours of the next morning.
