COPAA Condemns Blasphemy Charge
A COPAA message states: The Council of Pakistan American Affairs (COPAA) has condemned the blasphemy charge against an 11-year old Christian girl who was accused of blasphemy and arrested for allegedly burning pages of a booklet used to learn the basics of the Holy Qur’an.
Rimshah Masih, the young juvenile accused of blasphemy, suffers from Down’s Syndrome. Therefore, the charges brought against her are barbaric, unIslamic, and preposterous.
COPAA has contacted several officials in the Pakistan government to express concern at this injustice. COPAA has been assured that serious consideration will be given to our concerns and that the Pakistan government will look into this case.
