COPAA Organizes Fundraiser for Victims of Superstorm Sandy
The Council of Pakistan American Affairs (COPAA) organized a fundraiser for victims of superstorm Sandy at the Lakewood Shahnawaz Restaurant on December 2. The glittering restaurant hall was overflowing and vividly testified to the community’s support to COPAA’s drive to raise funds for the noble cause. Thanks to the zest of President Adnan Khan, Ismail Keekeebhai, Shoaib Patail, et al., a hefty amount was raised in no time. A check was duly presented to Ms Dona Williamson, representative of the Red Cross.
COPAA’s initiative, timely and laudable, is an expression of the innate urge of the Pakistani-American community to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow Americans in their hour of severe trial and adversity. Superstorm Sandy was a tragic event for not only those who were affected directly but also for the nation as a whole. It brought us all closer together to help our neighbors who were suffering. As Pakistani Americans it is our duty to stand firm with one another to make it through the turbulent storm that hit the East Coast.
