MPAC’s Expanded 2013 Young Leaders Summits
Washington, DC: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a day in the shoes of a Hollywood producer, a journalist covering breaking news in a war-torn country, a representative voting on a major piece of legislation or a high-tech entrepreneur who just started their own business?, asks an MPAC press release. It adds: Apply for our expanded 2013 Young Leaders Summits, and you will get that chance and much more.
The 2013 MPAC Young Leaders Summits in Hollywood, Media, Government and Silicon Valley are an opportunity for aspiring and passionate undergraduate, graduate and young professionals to gain access to the nerve centers shaping our society and learn how they can make an impact in these areas. Our delegates at each of the four summits will spend several days in an industry intensive program that will expose them to the different aspects of government, Hollywood, media and entrepreneurship.
Silicon Valley Summit in San Francisco | March 13-16, 2013
In 2013, we will kick off our inaugural Silicon Valley Summit, which is the latest addition to our Young Leaders Program. The program will highlight the power of technology as an influential nerve center in American decision-making and opinion-shaping, and it will help delegates explore how technology leaders gain and leverage their influence in their industry and beyond. Summit participants will learn the science and art of technology in order to help them develop personal skills and networking in the field.
Media Summit in New York City | June 16-20, 2013
The Media Summit will provide you with an exciting opportunity to meet prominent journalists, editors, producers and on-air talent to learn about the ins and outs of the news media industry and learn how you can pursue career opportunities in the field. Past Summit delegates have met with leaders at CNN, NBC, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, “Democracy Now!” and more.
Hollywood Summit in Los Angeles | June 26-29, 2013
The Hollywood Summit is your chance to understand how American Muslims can have a positive impact in the entertainment industry. By meeting with working actors, screenwriters, directors, talent managers and studio executives, delegates gain insight into making it in the industry while also gaining practical training in digital storytelling and getting tips for transforming your talent into a successful career. Past Hollywood Summit delegates have had the opportunity to meet with CBS Television, Fox Entertainment, Film Independent, as well as award-winning actors, editors and directors.
Government Summit in Washington, DC | Summer 2013 - TBD
The Government Summit will provide you with an inside-look at the inner workings of the nation’s capital while simultaneously providing government officials and congressional leaders the opportunity to learn what is on the minds of young American Muslims. Our flagship summit, the Government Summit has brought delegates to historic opportunities, including meeting with senior officials in the White House, members of Congress, federal agencies and influential think tanks.
