Message of Consul General Ms Riffat Masood on the Occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day

 

The peace loving people all over the world observe "Kashmir Solidarity Day" every year on 5th of February to reaffirm support for the just struggle of people of Kashmir to achieve their right of self-determination. Today, the Pakistani American community joins hands with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters to commemorate this day in the United States.

We pay tributes to the brave people of Kashmir who have been sacrificing their lives for so many decades to achieve their just aspirations. We reiterate our support and commitment to the people of Kashmir and for their demand of holding a plebiscite to ascertain the future of Kashmir. It is our considered view that the durable peace in South Asia can only be achieved by granting right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir as the principle of self-determination and maintenance of international peace and security are inseparable.

It is our hope that the international community in general and the people and government of the USA in particular would take an active interest in upholding the rights of the valiant people of Kashmir.
