Anaheim, CA: ICNA Relief is extremely pleased to announce the opening of its mobile clinic in partnership with Al-Shifa Clinic, San Bernardino, according to a press release.
ICNA President Dr. Zahid Bukhari, inaugurated the first of its kind project during his visit to Southern California. He was joined by Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Chairman of the Shura Council of Southern California during the General Body meeting of the Shura Council.
“Lack of affordable healthcare has become a major concern for many Americans,” said Salman Syed, President ICNA Southern California. “We hope that the ICNA Relief Mobile Clinic will not only provide necessary medical attention to many Southern Californians, but also help those who are unable to travel long distances by bringing quality care to their doorsteps.”
The mobile clinic provides primary medical care and operates out of a custom, fully equipped van that serves as an exam room for patients. The current staff includes Dr. Carla Toms, experienced street physician and assistant professor of family medicine at Loma Linda University, and two certified medical assistants.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the numerous community leaders who attended the clinic’s inauguration last week,” said Dr. Khalid Memon, Director ICNA Relief Southern California. “The mobile clinic had a very successful first visit to the Islamic Center of Riverside this past Sunday, and we will be visiting three different mosques over the course of this month. We are extremely grateful for the positive response to the clinic, and look forward to providing our communities with quality medical care.” For a detailed article on this project visit www.ICNA.org.
