Annual Award Night and Mushaira of Urdu Writers Society of North America, Inc.

The Annual Award Night and Mushaira of Urdu Writers Society of North America, Inc. was held in Los Angeles on Sept. 15th, 2012. Prominent community members, literati and outstanding persons of scholarly attainments attended the event. They included: Jazib Qureshi (Pakistan), Rafi-Uddin Raaz (New Jersey), Younus Ijaz (Dallas, TX), Muqsit Nadeem (New York, NY), Mona Shahab (Washington DC), Adeel Zaidi (Houston, TX), and Fayyaz-Uddin Saib (Maryland). A large number of local poets also presented their kalam. Eight books were formally launched on the occasion. The book-inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mohammad Ishaq while the mushaira was presided over by Jazib Qureshi. Nizamat was performed by Masroor Javed. Hadi Raza Khan, a senior Urdu Writers Society Board Member, was given an award in recognition of his contribution to promote the Society and the Urdu language. Pictures above were taken by YKKB
