ACP’s “Laureate Award 2012” for Dr Muhammad Yasin Sheikh
Dr Muhammad Yasin Sheikh received the Laureate Award 2012 from American College of Physicians (ACP), Northern California Chapter on November 17, 2012 in San Francisco during the annual Chapter meeting of the College.
The Laureate Award honors ACP Fellows and Masters who have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research and service to their community, their region and the College. Awardees have a long history of excellence and peer approval in the specialty of internal medicine. Additionally, they have served the College with distinction or in some clearly definable manner.
Dr Sheikh has received the award in recognition of his 14-year academic work in affiliation with the University of California.
Dr Muhammad Yasin Sheikh earned his MBBS from Dow Medical College, Karachi in 1982. He completed his residency training from Indiana University and Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology from University of Louisville, Kentucky. He received additional training in Clinical Nutrition from Beth Israel Deaconess, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Presently, he is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He serves as Chief of Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Director of GI Fellowship Program at UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program (MEP). He has previously served as Medical Director of Liver Transplant Program at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center.
Dr. Sheikh is a fellow of American College of Physicians (ACP), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). He is a member of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). He is also a member of advisory committee of American Liver Foundation, Northern California Chapter. Dr. Sheikh sits on the Board of Governors of Fresno-Madera Medical Society.
