The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) Sets up Modern Washing Plant at Saba Trust
By Nadia Seemi
The Church of The Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has donated a washing plant and complete cleaning supplies to the Saba Homes following a formal request for the plant and accompanying accessories made to Brother Peter Sackley, Stanley Wan, Norman Chia and the Committee. Brother Nate Leishman and Lynn Samsel are always helpful whenever Saba Trust–Saba Homes is in need of humanitarian aid. Respectable Elder Gerrit W. Gong specially arrived, visited and blessed the program also. We have good working relationship with Deseret International (Jackson family) who have been participating in Saba Trust charitable humanitarian activities since long.
This is not the first time that our friends from LDS have helped us so open-heartedly. As is well known, LDS has a proven record of serving humanity throughout the world. Its work is truly electrifying.
Saba Homes is not an orphanage but a home for orphan girls. Here the girls are treated with great love, care and affection by Mama and Papa (Mr and Mrs Saghir Aslam). Saba girls are taught to be good human beings to serve humanity. They are highly disciplined and learn to respect to everyone irrespective of his caste, creed or religion. Every morning Saba Girls repeat a Peace Pledge to the world. Its key points are:
- We have learned the real Islam of peace and love.
- We love and respect everyone regardless of religion, race or country.
- Our mission and vision is to work together and eliminate prejudice and hate.
- We have to spread peace through the light of knowledge and patience which Islam teaches us.
- Our programs will help eliminate terrorism - one child, one family, one community at a time and ultimately the entire Pakistan.
The girls’ mission and vision is to transform today’s Pakistan into a peaceful, peace-loving, prosperous country to be loved by everyone in the world. They will bring a peaceful revolution through education in every field, in every department they associate with. They will build schools, colleges, universities, medical clinics, hospitals, research centers and recreational facilities. Such conditions will attract expatriate Pakistanis from all over the world as well as foreigners inclined to invest in Pakistan.
Saba Homes is being run as a “World Class Orphanage” for the last many years. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and services. It is privileged to have friends like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who extend it ready help and support when needed. LDS, earlier, provided a good quality generator and sound system for Saba girls. LDS also enthusiastically helped Saba Trust in its relief activities for victims of floods and the earthquake of 2005 and other calamities. May Allah (SWT) continue to bless LDS with success.
