Ahmed Rehab to Receive Community Builder Award 2013
Each year Community Builders Chicago (CBC) honors an individual within the community whose work exemplifies excellence in community service. We look for people whose work is making a significant difference in the lives of others and improving the condition of our community. The award is given at CBC's Annual Banquet which is scheduled for this Sunday at Lazzat Banquets in Streamwood, IL.
Ahmed Rehab, the dynamic Executive Director of CAIR Chicago, is the recipient of "Community Builder Award" for 2013.
In announcing the award, Dr. Munir Chaudry, President of CBC said, "We at CBC have followed Ahmed Rehabs's work in the community with great respect and admiration as he has courageously and relentlessly fought to stem the tide of Islamophobia, preserve the civil rights of Muslims and promote a better understanding of Islam by our neighbors."
Adding to it ,Azher Quader, Executive Director of CBC commented, "His My Jihad Campaign receives our special recognition as it aims to inspire so many, both within our community and outside it, to a life of engagement and involvement, so essential for the growth of goodwill and understanding, among people of different cultural and ideological traditions."
Ahmed Rehab is Executive Director of the Chicago Office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy group. He also serves as CAIR’s National Strategic Communications Director.
A prolific writer and lecturer on contemporary social issues including civil rights, media relations, and Islam-West relations, Rehab has spoken at various university campuses in Chicago and around the nation.
Rehab comments regularly as a guest on various local, national, and international TV and cable news programs, as well as on radio stations. He has been interviewed over 150 times by news publications such as the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald, the Washington Post, the Orlando Sentinel, the Economist, the Boston Globe, the International Herald Tribune, Crain’s Business Magazine, Germany’s Die Zeit, the BBC and many more.
