Irvine Pakistani Parents Association Hosts Stunning Fashion Show
The Irvine Pakistani Parents Association (IPPA) hosted a fashion show, Colors From the Indus II, to benefit the Irvine Public Schools Foundation with support from the Los Angeles Police Department, LAPD. The mission of the IPPA is to promote the Pakistani culture through music and arts and to support the multicultural educational programs.
The IPPA, founded five years ago by Anila Ali, and now led by a dynamic group of Pakistanis, is a model non-profit organization for all Pakistanis in the US. Farhan Aziz, its president, reminded the audience about the importance of giving back to the community through such efforts.
The red carpet event started with the many famous celebrities of Hollywood - Faran Tahir, ofStar Trek, Iron Man, Charlie Wilson’s War, Warehouse and the super hit TV showSupernatural, who walked in and were thronged by adoring fans. Iqbal Theba, more famously, Principal Figgins of super hit TV showGlee, and Faran Tahir were both gracious and pleased their fans with pictures on the red carpet. Joining them on the red carpet was the half Pakistani Shayoon Aboo, the gorgeous model, celebrity hair stylist, and jewelry designer. The stars hung out with guests and talked to LAPD officials and Mayor/Councilwoman of Irvine, Beth Krom.
The show started with a dramatic act by the FNK Asia when the models lined up the exquisite balconies of the famous landmark of LA, The Belasco Theater, and trailed down in vibrant colors to reflect the theme - Colors from the Indus. The show stopper for Fnk Asia, Suraya Fadel, a talented and renowned and Emmy-award winning CBS and KCAL 9 reporter walked down elegantly showcasing a Fnk Asia’s exquisite black gown. Suraya Fadel dedicated her entire day to IPPA and emceed the event to help raise money for Irvine schools. During the break, a vibrant group of young dancers did the energetic bhangra dance.
The other designers who showcased their stunning collections were Nida Azwer, Sania Muskatia, Samreen’s Closet, and Zainab Chotani.
After the grand finale, the IPPA board was lauded for its efforts to promote Pakistan and Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
The IPPA team consists of Farhan Aziz, Zehra Hussain, Almas Asif, Darakshan Malik, Sabahat Aziz, Sarah Vakil, and Fauzia Majeed. The event was planned by Kismet Events’ amazing Saadia Kibriya of Orange County.
