Political Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Speaks at New Orleans Dinner
New Orleans, Louisiana: Dr Asif Kirmani, a close associate and Political Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, is currently on a private visit to New Orleans, Louisiana. He said on Tuesday, December 31st 2013 that smooth transition of power after fair and free general elections of 2013 in Pakistan resulted in Pakistan Muslim League -(Nawaz) to emerge as the single largest party in the parliament. Government of Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is fully determined to meet the serious challenges that Pakistan is facing today.
Dr. Kirmani said that we strongly believe in a tolerant society and a progressive Pakistan as
envisioned by the father of the Nation, Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He expressed these views while talking to the Pakistani Community of Greater New Orleans at a dinner hosted by the
Community President, Syed Basharat Ali in Kenner, LA.
The dinner was attended by leading members of the Pakistani-American community of Greater New Orleans. Dr. Kirmani briefed and updated the community members on the road map that the Nawaz government is following on a war footings to get Pakistan back on track.
Dr. Kirmani said that load shedding (power outages), security situation, economy, and corruption are the real challenges that 'our Government has inherited, but we are fully determined to resolve these issues as our government has the team, the will and the determination to do so and we will come up to the expectations of people of Pakistan.' He asserted that Pakistan is a peace-loving and responsible country which is in safe hands. 'We wish to have friendly and close relations with other countries, especially our neighbors, and the Western World.' Dr. Kirmani was of the opinion that Pakistan-USA relations will further strengthen with the passage of time as both countries are working to promote peace.
He said that since Mr Nawaz Sharif assumed the office of the Prime Minister, the economy, power outages, and security situation have improved.
Dr. Kirmani hoped that Pakistan and USA can work more closely to promote peace in the world.
The American investors should come and invest in Pakistan and their investments and profits will be fully secured and protected, Dr Kirmani assured.
