COPAA Presents Award to DHS and Jannah Scott

On January 6th 2014, COPAA held a meeting and dinner which was attended by the Deputy Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman Ahsan Wagan, Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles Tasawar Khan, Deputy Director of the Department of Homeland Security Dr Jannah Scott, COPAA board members, President of Pakistan Arts Council Hina Abidi, President of NISWA Dr Farah Zaidi, President of Chamber Zubair Rao, President of Access California Naila Kayli, President of AMWEC Anila Ali, President of Shine Humanity Salman Naqvi, President of MONA Dr Ashraf Kamdar, President of SCOPE Nadeem Syed, UFPID members and leaders of Pakistani American community.
The proceedings started with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an by Qazi Asad. Nighat Kardar welcomed all the guests and invited Mr Adnan Khan, President of COPAA, to address the gathering. Mr Khan introduced the guests and welcomed the audience. COPAA President discussed the initiative headed by DHS and Dr Jannah Scott deputy director Department of Homeland Security. He said that the DHS has worked hard to reach out and show support to the Pakistani American and the Muslim communities. This effort has made a huge impact on these communities all over the USA. Mr Khan believes that these initiatives have allowed the community to become more resilient to any challenges that it may face in the future. He said that the collaboration between DHS and COPAA has built an essential bridge between the Pakistani American community and Federal agencies including TSA, US Custom and Border Protection, US Citizenship and Immigration Service, DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civic Liberties and FEMA .
Consul General of Pakistan Tasawar Khan along with COPAA board members and COPAA advisory board members presented an award to Dr Jannah Scott and Department Homeland Security for "exemplary service to the Pakistani- American community and the Muslim communities in United States".
