MCC Holds Community Outreach Iftar and Dinner
Chicago, IL: On Saturday July 12, 2014 MCC held its Annual Ramadan Community Outreach Iftar and Dinner.
Over 75 people representing various religious and community organizations in Chicago attended the Iftar Dinner. Guest sin attendance included from the Lutheran School of Theology (Rev Mark and wife Rev Rosanne Swanson), from the Heartland Health Alliance (Dalia Morales), from the Sudanese Islamic Center (Joann Holeman), from the Albany Park Neighborhood Council (President Diane Limas, Maria S, Damien K, Fash K, Lupita O, Minolita and several of their youth leaders), from Indo American Center (Sher Rajput, Nand Kapoor and Ashraf Hashim) and from Hello NRI (Jatinder Bedi).
As is the usual tradition of this event, guests were asked to present their inspiring works and projects that they are all doing in the community to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.
Br. Basheeruddin and his tarbiah team prepared and served a delicious feast to the guests. Drs Ayesha Sultana and Gafoor supervised the beautifully decorated hall and table arrangements, Brs Tariq Malhance , Afsar Ali , Sher Rajput and Akhter Sadiq received the guests and Sr. Anjum Ali and her team handled the registration.
The program started on time after iftar and dinner with recitation of Qur'an by Br. Javed Bhatty. Masood Bijapuri substituted for President Nasir who was under the weather. Guests provided comments and Akhter Sadiq chair, MCC Outreach, concluded the proceedings with a vote of thanks and dua.
Azher Quader, co chair of MCC Outreach, was the MC for the event.
