CAIR-LA Congratulates Shaykh Mohammed ibn Faqih on ‘Faith in Action’ Award
Anaheim, CA: The Council on American-Islamic Relations Greater Los Angeles Area office (CAIR-LA) June 12 congratulated Shaykh Mohammed ibn Faqih on receiving the “Faith in Action” Award from the Orange County Congregation Community (OCCCO) at its 2014 Gala. Faqih currently serves as the Imam of the Islamic Institute of Orange County.
On Wednesday evening June 10, OCCCO hosted the Community Beacon Awards “Colors of Justice” 2014 Gala at the Dehli Community Center in Santa Ana to recognize and show appreciation of transformative Orange County leaders and congregations.
Among the honorees was Shaykh Faqih who was awarded the “Faith in Action” Award for being instrumental in activating his congregation to effectively understand their communities, shape public policy and become civically engaged leaders.
In an effort to show appreciation and educate the greater community about local efforts to promote social justice, the gala also recognized other Orange County leaders and organizations including the Anaheim BROS, Eric Altman founder of OCCORD, and Norma Roque of UNIVISION.
