Khalil Momand Passes away
The Islamic Shura Council lost one of its founding board members overnight, Br. Khalil Momand. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un, says a message.
" May Allah grant Jannah to Br. Khalil Momand and give patience to his family for their irrevocable loss. We are grateful for his exemplary life. He devoted much of his life, along with his family, in serving the Southern California Muslim communities. May Allah reward him for all his good works," said Dr Muzammil Siddiqi, Chairman of the Islamic Shura Council.
The Shura Council message adds: Br. Khalil Momand was a lifetime worker for Islam and Muslims and was a father-like figure to many. He served many communities, especially the Islamic Center of Southern California and was a founding member of the Islamic Center of South Bay. Br. Khalil Momand also taught Islam-101 to new Muslims at Masjid Omar ibn al Khattab in Los Angeles. He also served on the Majlis of the Islamic Shura Council on behalf of the Islamic Center of South Bay .
Br. Khalil Momand was much loved in the greater interfaith community for his outreach in bringing the faith communities closer and helping them work together for the common and the greater good. He was a founding member of South Coast Interfaith Coalition and served on its board for many years.
Br. Khalil Momand was ill with age-related issues and he passed away in peace surrounded by his family. His burial took place at Green Hills Memborial Park , 27501 Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Br. Khalil Momand is survived by his wife, four adult children and several grandchildren.
The Islamic Shura Council asks the Masajid to urge the community to make a special Du'a for Br. Khalil Momand. We pray that he be blessed with the best of heavens and may he be forgiven for his mistakes and shortcomings. Ameen.
