SoCal Muslim Organizations Condemn Joint Assad, Russian, Iranian Attack on Aleppo
Anaheim, CA: The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) joins The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, MPAC, ICNA and MAS in condemning the joint Assad, Russia, and Iranian attack on Aleppo and the impending danger to 150,000 innocent civilians confined to two districts.
Reports of mass detentions, mass executions, and forced conscription's have been coming out of Aleppo, along with scores of "farewell messages" from residents and aid workers. "This is the worst human crisis in our recent history. Innocent civilians are wiped out. Even doctors and aid workers are targeted. We pray to Allah to help the innocent people of Aleppo," said DrMuzammil Siddiqi, the Chairman of the Shura Council.
We call for immediate action and ask:
1. President Obama to mobilize concerted diplomatic pressure that will prevent large-scale slaughter and allow for all Aleppo residents to be protected and allowed safe evacuation, if desired.
2. Congress to urgently issue statements demanding the safety of Aleppo's residents and promise new sanctions if the 150,000 remaining residents are not protected.
3. The American people to contact their elected officials and the White House to demand safe passage for the people of Aleppo and to dedicate vigils and prayers in their houses of worship.
4. The imams to speak about the situation in Aleppo, emphasize this press release and make a special duaa for the people of Aleppo.
